DEVOTIONAL: You Don't Have To Wait Till The New Year

We are ending the year of 2024.

Usually this is the time many of us, including myself, reflect back on this year. We look at the highs and the lows. We scroll through our pictures to find the highlights of our year and maybe even forgot some moments or those moments felt like a different year. I personally enjoy looking back at the year, highlighting certain pictures on social media to remember the good times and God’s faithfulness.

However, there are the moments we may want to forget.

The pictures of moments we won’t post because we may want to forget.

Forget about the hardship.

Forget about the loss of a job.

Forget about how friendships have changed.

Forget about the diagnosis.

Forget about loved ones who have passed.

Just simply, forget.

Wait till the new year and then things will get better. “New Year, New Me.”

A new year always is a nice reset, but what is so important to remember is that you don’t have to wait till the new year. You don’t have to bottle up everything you want to forget, because you may think forgetting is easier.

Jesus tells us to come to HIM.

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.””

‭‭Matthew ‭11‬:‭28‬-‭30‬

Whatever hardship this year had, God will not leave you nor forsake you.

He will be with you on your darkest days even if you feel far from Him.

There will be moments you will want to run to the things of this world that fill the void, but keep holding on to Jesus.

You don’t have to wait till the new year to go to Jesus.

Whether this year was your year or this year you are barely hanging on,

His mercies are new every morning.

Your story is not finished.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.””

‭‭Lamentations ‭3‬:‭22‬-‭24‬ ‭
