FEAR IS NOT MY FUTURE: Because Jesus has overcome

John 16:33 "Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe? Behold, the hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me. I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”"

Imagine being a disciple of Jesus and hearing Him saying these words. I wonder if they were in denial that Jesus would be gone or if some started to freak out and wonder what He meant.

Imagine being with Jesus when He was fully human and fully God, and imagine the people who had waited for prophecies of the coming Messiah, and He is finally here! And now, He is about to leave.

I can only imagine the mixed emotions that may have left the disciples in question or disbelief. I would be quick to judge the disciples and be like “you were there with Jesus! How could you not…” but then again, let’s reverse the question as we too have been given the Holy Spirit, we have been given access to Jesus every single day. And we are looking left and right, worried at what our world is coming to, and putting our hope in mankind…

...Sound a bit familiar with the time Jesus entered the world?

Are we going to miss what God has right in front of us? Or are we being surrounded by the fears of the world that we are missing an opportunity to understand when Jesus said He has overcome the world, He meant it.
