Do you believe?
Do you believe who Jesus says He is?
Do you believe that when Jesus came on earth it would change the course of history?
The Pharisees chose not to believe Him.
The Disciples had their doubts, but they believed.
Men, women, and children who were not seen as qualified or worthy believed in Jesus.
They believed He was the Messiah they had waited for.
And He was.
Only Jesus could fulfill what needed to be done. He was fully man and fully God who is one with the Father.
He revealed Himself as the Great I Am.
He came to break down religion and fulfill the law by being the perfect sacrifice so that all could be one with the Father.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God ; believe also in me.” John 14:1 NIV
Jesus the way.
Jesus the truth.
Jesus the life.
(John 14:6)
Jesus knew His time leading up to the cross was coming. He knew His disciples would be afraid and what they would face when they chose to believe in Him.
Yet God loves His chosen people. He would not leave them abandoned.
He would soon give them the Holy Spirit to guide them. He promises them and to us that when we abide in Him we will find our fullness of joy and life. (John 15) He invites His people to have a relationship with Him.
“As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.” John 15:9-10 NKJV
Do you believe?
Do you believe that Jesus loves you and that He has prepared a place for you? (John 14:1-2) That He wouldn’t leave you abandoned but give you the Helper? That through Jesus, your sorrow be turned into joy? (John 16:16-22) Jesus, would give everything because He loves you.
Even on the night before He was betrayed, beaten, humiliated, and led to the cross, He prayed. At the Garden, blood dripping from His face, awaiting the cross to take on our sins, He still cared for us. He didn’t just pray for his disciples. He prayed for us too.
He prayed for you.
He prayed that we may know Him.
He prayed that we would know we are HIS.
He prayed that we would be one with Him and the Father.
“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.” John 17:20-21 NKJV
So again, and again, I will ask: DO YOU BELIEVE?
Jesus is waiting. Jesus has prayed for you and is calling you by name.
He desires to have a relationship with you.
Yet believing requires faith.
Believing requires surrender.
Believing means it’s not about you, but about Him.
Yet once you believe, everything changes.
When you encounter Jesus and His love, you are alive. You are complete.
You are HIS.
