“A friend loves at all times…” Proverbs 17:17a
“…there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24b
We know that COVID-19 has set defined boundaries on physical involvement which could definitely lend to discouragement, depression, and a sense of being “alone” in our struggles.
It’s hard to imagine life without a hug, a hand-shake, a fist bump, or a touch. We need relationship with each other for encouragement, refreshment, and growth.
We were created for relationship.
One of God’s names is “El Roi” – God who sees.
He sees YOU in your present circumstances. And He knows how much we need brothers and sisters in Christ in our lives.
Because we were created for relationship.
He gave us each other to build one another up in our most holy faith – edifying one another with a kind word, encouraging each other to finish strong, and praying with one another.
Do not allow this Pandemic to keep you from reaching out. Pray with one another on the phone, text, share a scripture, reach out on Facebook.
When you feel down in your soul, call someone up. Don’t withdraw, but extend your hand of friendship and need. Sometimes we just need to be real about the struggles we face.
If you don’t have a friend, be a friend.
You are never alone. And your life matters to God. He created relationship because He knew how much we need it.
It’s good to always get a different perspective, to bounce ideas off one another, to share concerns, doubts, feelings, and prayers.
We may not be able to touch one another with a physical hug – but we can still reach out to someone.
Step outside of your “sheltered in” and be a friend to someone.
We have seen so many acts of kindness around the world during this quarantine. Birthday parades, singing from apartment balconies, providing meals to neighbors, and much more. It’s time to be creative and show the love of God to one another.
“And so those who have been chosen of God {which is YOU Beloved} put on a heart of compassion and kindness…bearing with one another and beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.” Colossians 3:12
